P1-RCR104: Solutions adopted or scaled up by organizations
Target value – 1
The project aims to provide comprehensive protection of the rich biodiversity in the two cross-border regions of Kyustendil and Kumanovo by developing a Green Infrastructure (GI) Strategy for the Northeast Region (MK) and the Municipality of Kyustendil (BG), along with a Joint Action Plan. While it may seem like a standard solution, this Green Infrastructure Strategy and Action Plan will lay the foundation for changing the understanding of the environment and its profound impact on human health. To amplify our efforts, we will submit the Strategy for approval by the Council of the Northeast Region and the Council of the Municipality of Kyustendil, as well as the Action Plan for approval by the Councils of the Municipality of Kumanovo and the Municipality of Kyustendil, and mark its adoption with a public demonstration of a small-scale joint initiative. This presentation will provide local residents with tangible examples of how an ecosystem-based approach positively affects community well-being and resilience.
P1-RCR105: Population with access to new or improved green infrastructure
Target value – 30,000
The urban population needs attractive and well-designed recreational areas that offer suitable conditions for leisure and relaxation. The construction and restoration of a recreational area along the main boulevards in Kumanovo, as well as the restoration of green infrastructure in the schoolyard, will also contribute to improving air quality, preventing pollution, and creating a healthier environment.
